FOCUS: LEGISLATION
Regulatory reform is all around us these days. Most notably, the Dodd-Frank Wall
Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act is affecting all aspects of financial
services, including the commercial real estate and mortgage industries. The
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act continues to impact the industry, as
well. Another recent bill — the Small Business Jobs Act, signed into law this past
September — directly affects commercial mortgage brokers, especially those
who work with U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) loans. In the past few
